The Trade Skills Program is an innovative pilot program which promotes leadership for women in the workplace by creating a pathway for women in council to become a town planner or para-planner via trades-based skills.

The course runs between September 2023 to March 2024, with the completed subjects leading to two potential Planning career pathways at University of New England (UNE):

  • Undergraduate Certificate in Urban & Regional Planning (from T2, 2023) – credit for one unit (units completed = 25% of the award)
  • Diploma in Town Planning – credit for two units (units completed = 25% of the award)

Both fully articulate with the Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning.

Although the course is online, study days will be held in Canberra at the CRJO offices, and the course will be supported by mentoring and a series of masterclasses providing participants with important personal, career and study leadership skills.
